Animal rights parties anticipate winning five to seven seats in the European Parliament, the Animal Party of Cyprus said in an announcement following a press conference given in April 4 in Brussels by representatives.
The Cyprus party said that during the conference, animal rights parties presented their joint manifesto under the slogan: “Animal Politics EU: May we have your votes, please?”
Recent polls show animal rights parties winning between five and seven seats which would mean tripling their current strength.
Currently Anja Hazekamp (Netherlands) and Stefan Eck (Germany) are the only MEPs to be elected under the animal rights platform in 2014.
The parties come from the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Cyprus and – depending on the Brexit outcome, the United Kingdom.
